Working as an interpreter who assisted The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN, Admiral Jayanath Siri Kumara Colombage. The Ambassador along with his wife, Madam Srima, came to Medan, North Sumatra for some cultural and religious visits.
We visited two famous Buddhist temples in Medan, which were Maha Vihara Maitreya and Vihara Borobudur. Maha Vihara Maitreya is the largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia. The architecture blends modern Chinese influences with traditional Buddhist elements. The iconic statues of the Smiling Buddha placed inside and outside the hall.
Expanding horizons and knowledges, I suggested the Ambassador Colombage to have a look of Little India in Medan, where Shri Maha Mariamman temple, the oldest Hindu temple in North Sumatra, located.
